The wines of Pays d'Oc are produced in the southern French Languedoc-Roussillon on four departments along the Mediterranean Sea. The Renaissance era reopened the large maritime trade market. In 1290, Arnaud de Villeneuve discovered the secret of distilling wine into alcohol which was added to the barrels. This preserved the wine against vine-gar bacteria and allowed its exportation. Small regional ports equiped their boats to ex-port the region’s wines. During these centuries, Pays d'Oc wines conquered every table, even King of France’s. Until now, those wines are acclaimed all over the world.
