Vibrant Red Purple. Medium bodied with vibrant blackberry fruit, background toasty oak and an opulent sweet core coupled with long silkly smooth tannins
As people of the soil, the Italians worked their land for centuries developing a rich and highly desired food and wine culture that continues until this day. Fleeing war-torn Europe at the end of the First World War, Italian migrants, many from the poor rural areas in the south of the country, began settling in South Australia’s McLaren Vale. While bringing with them winemaking and culinary knowledge, most left behind family and friends who would come to face incredibly difficult times during World War Two.
Rising up against the occupying German forces, the Italian partisans would come to reclaim their land and sovereignty from the invaders. Drawing inspiration from these peasant armies, Partisan gets back to the basics of winemaking, returning to the soil and producing wines that express their regionality and defend the integrity of McLaren Vale.
