VINEYARD

Château Cap l'Ousteau is located to Lamarque, at the same distance of Margaux as Saint-Julien. The Château and the outbuildings date respectively from the 18th and 19th centuries. Among its illustrious owners, it boasts Monsieur de Bethman who was mayor of Bordeaux, and the Clauzel family. It is on this privileged site, extending from the terroir of Moulis, that the 78 hectares or so of the estate Château du Cartillonare cultivated. Cap l'Ousteau is the second wine of the Château du Cartillon and is given the same attention as its prestigious elder.

This allows the younger vines on the estate, when reasonably blended with the older vines, to show their full potential. The 45 hectare vineyard occupies a remarkable position on two hilltops whose thick layer of gravels is an eminently favourable environment for winegrowing. The nature of the terroir, the traditional approach to managing the vineyard and the work in the vinifying cellar make the wine from Château Cap l'Ousteau a typical, classic example of the appellation.

Label Notes:

Located near to Margaux, the Chateau Cap L'Ousteau enjoys a typic Medoc gravel terroir. This terroir is combined with well-equilibrated grape varieties: Merlot for the color and the roundness, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc for the fruit and the finesse, and Petit Verdot for the structure. Barrels growing sublime the quality and the personnality of this cru. Served between 18 to 20c, this wine is the perfect match with traditional meals like red meats or veal and with some fine cheeses.
